Building Type Possibilities
About
Type I "Fire-Resistive" buildings (like high rises) and Type II "Noncombustible" buildings (such as shopping centers) require construction methods and materials that are noncombustible or have limited combustibility. These structures are generally built with steel frames or concrete. Thanks to US MgO's proprietary formula and rigorous fire testing protocols, Innovation MgO 1/2″ Wall Panels are among the few sheathing panel products, whether traditional or MgO, that are code-approved for use in these building types in the U.S.
As a noncombustible, Class A fire-rated material with independent 1-hour and 2-hour fire ratings, Innovation MgO 1/2″ Wall Panels can be utilized as exterior load-bearing sheathing panels on wood, steel, and masonry frame buildings. These panels have been subjected to extensive third-party fire resistance testing and have been approved by the International Code Council Evaluation Service (ICC-ES) for use in all building types I, II, III, IV, & V, in accordance with the 2021 International Building Code (IBC) and ASTM E136 standards.
